ZGC Innovation Center @ Silicon Valley,4500 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara, CA 95054 (map)

Please RSVP here.

Speaker: Professor James Zou, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Data Science, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Stanford University

Summary: Recent breakthroughs in high-throughput genomic and biomedical data are transforming biological sciences into “big data” disciplines. In parallel, progress in deep neural networks are revolutionizing fields such as image recognition, natural language processing and, more broadly, AI. In this talk I’ll explore some of the exciting intersection between these two advances. I’ll describe some recent developments in deep learning and discuss how we can adapt these approaches to biomedical data.

The Intel Museum located at Intel headquarters in in Santa Clara, has exhibits of Intel’s products and history as well as semiconductor technology in general.

The museum was started in the early 1980s as an internal project at Intel to record its history. It has exhibits about how semiconductor chip technology works, both as self-paced exhibits and by reservation as grade-school educational programs. A fully functional 130x scale replica of the Intel 4004 CPU was built using discrete transistors and put on display in 2006.

Javascript based framework that can build cross platform mobile app

Hurricane Electric
48233 Warm Springs Blvd, Fremont, CA (map)
Fuse has developed a declarative and intuitive JS/Markup approach to native mobile app development. We’ve taken the quick, dynamic workflow that JavaScript provides, and coupled it with an advanced, native UI framework designed specifically for building beautiful mobile apps. All of this helps us to reduce iteration time between changes to an absolute minimum without sacrificing native performance, making app development faster, easier, and a heck of a lot more fun.

In this introductory workshop, we’ll give a quick overview of the technology and demo exciting possibilities Fuse opens for our users such as instant, on-device update of code and markup, and specialized user interface primitives designed tosuccinctly describe data presentation and animation in a way you only dreamed of with HTML5. All along the way, we’ll get live, hands-on experience working with these tools, on our devices, fully native, in real-time.
