
Scott joined NEA in 1996 as an Associate, became a Partner in 1999 and a General Partner in 2000. Scott focuses on investments in information technology-based companies, including software, semiconductors and materials. Present board memberships include Agami Systems, CenterBeam, Data Domain, Ensim, FineGround Networks, Foveon, Spreadtrum Communications, Tableau Software and Teneros. He is also actively involved with BCD Semiconductor Manufacturing Limited, Decru, and Motion Computing. Scott serves as Co-Chairman of the board of the Software Development Forum. He has sponsored investments in 3ware (acquired by Applied Micro Circuits Corporation), Amplitude Software (acquired by Critical Path), Neoteris (acquired by Juniper Networks, (NASDAQ: JNPR), NetIQ (NASDAQ: NTIQ), Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) and WebEx (NASDAQ: WEBX).
Scott started his career at the Boston Consulting Group and later joined C-ATS Software as the company's first salesman. He founded and ran the European Subsidiary before attending Stanford Business School. During and after business school, Scott was a Product Manager at Microsoft, where he worked on Windows 95. In addition to an MBA from Stanford, Scott holds an AB in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College.

Before starting The Hina Group, Dr. Chen founded and served as the Chairman and CEO of GRIC Communications, and led its successful IPO on NASDAQ in 1999. Dr. Chen served GRIC's CEO from 1994 to early 2003 and continues to serve as the Chairman of GRIC, a global leader in deploying world’s largest virtual dial up and broadband WiFi network in 150 countries. Prior to GRIC, he founded and was president and CEO of Aimnet, a successful Northern California Internet service provider that was acquired by Verio in 1997, which was sold to NTT in 2000 for $5.6B.
As one of the first group of mainland Chinese oversea students in the United States, and having founded and brought his company to IPO on NASDAQ as CEO, Dr. Chen has received numerous awards. In 1998, China’s Committee for Oversea Chinese published a book naming Dr. Chen as one of the 30 most successful overseas Chinese worldwide. In 2000, Digital Weekly/Business Week of Taiwan named him one of the 100 most influential Chinese new world economy leaders. In 2001, China’s CCTV cited Dr. Chen as one of the most successful Chinese in North America. He has also received an honorary professorship at one of the most prestigious Chinese universities, Xian Jiaotong University. In 2002, Deloitte & Touche named GRIC as one of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America.
Dr. Chen has spoken and keynoted numerous times on issues such as the global and China communications market, Chinese entrepreneurship, and Asia Pacific new economy at prominent universities and business forums. He often advises top executives of many leading Asian telecom carriers on global strategy.

Derek is an experienced entrepreneur with strong corporate and startup backgrounds. He had been a Vice President at Sina.com, and had held senior positions at Motorola and Apple Computer.Tianji.com is his second startup, after Qzone.com which was co-founded with Mark Wong-VanHaren, one of the founders of Excite. Qzone became the largest youth entertainment community in China within 6 months of launch.
Through his career, Derek had been a strategy consultant and advisor to a number of companies, including: Excite – No. 2 portal after Yahoo prior to acquisition by @Home; Serus – an enterprise solution startup in Silicon Valley; Daren – the leading radio production and entertainment company in China; and Beijing MobileData – a mobile service provider. Derek obtained a Masters Degree from Stanford University and was a Ph.D.candidate at Stanford.

Junbo Liu has Over 18 years of software product development and IT operation management experience. He has worked at various Silicon Valley start-ups and established companies, in the role of founder, CEO, VP of technology, architect, engineering manager, and principle engineers. In the IT management role, Junbo has been responsible for the completion of Sales and Supervision of IT Projects in Millions of US dollars. Since 2003, he went back to China for taking the executive management positions at SureKAM and Nstek, two leading IT service providers in Beijing. Currently, Junbo is the Executive Vice President of Worksoft Creative Software Technology, a leading outsourcing service provider in China, in charge of its US operation.
Junbo has the profound IT industry experiences in the areas such as Telecom and Networking Systems, Business Process Management System, Enterprise Software, Language Design and Compilation. Junbo got his PhD in Germany in 1994, and is academically recognized as a leading researcher in automated programming construction technology, with many publications in the international conferences and journals. For his outstanding work, he got a US Air Force software award for building a high performance resource allocation system in 1999.
Junbo is also socially active in helping community to leveraging and promoting the new technologies. He has served the chief representative for China Ecommerce Association in Silicon Valley, and has serves as a member of the selection committee of California NGI program in 2002.

David Wallerstein joined the Tencent executive team in 2001. Mr. Wallerstein is a U.S. native with 15 years of experience living and working in China and Japan. Mr. Wallerstein is responsible for Tencent's international strategic partnerships with leading Internet companies, device manufacturers, content providers and telecommunications operators, and Tencent's operations outside mainland China.
Prior to joining Tencent, Mr. Wallerstein was Vice President, Business Development of MIH Asia, overseeing MIH's entry strategy into China's Internet sector. Mr. Wallerstein worked on establishment of a number of MIH Internet businesses in China, and was responsible for local M&A activity. Before MIH, Mr. Wallerstein was a management consultant based in Shanghai and Beijing, developing entry strategies for Fortune 500 clients establishing new businesses in mainland China and Japan. He also worked in SONY Corporation (Display Company) in Tokyo, Japan.
Mr. Wallerstein has a Master's Degree in Political Economy from UC Berkeley, and a Bachelor's from the University of Washington, Seattle. He is proficient in Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. He maintains an active presence both in Shenzhen, China and Redwood City, California.
