@Venture Series 4: PITCHING & DEMO DAY
Are you looking for funding? Is your pitch VC ready? This is your opportunity to pitch your idea to our panel of investors and showcase your products to the audience. The winner of the pitching session will get a two-hour free corporate legal consultation (worth $1,500) from Gunderson!
We have assembled a stellar panel of top-tier VCs and angel investors as panel judges, and also hand-picked some of the most promising startups to showcase their products.
For the presenting entrepreneurs, you will get to showcase your products, and get valuable feedback from the audience and investors, plus great marketing exposures.
For the audience, you will see what kind companies that VCs are interested in? What are VCs looking for in a pitch? What are other startups doing now? What are the hot areas? Plus you will get to meet with our stellar panelists and other investors, ample of great networking opportunities (this is a 2-session event, you'll have 2 breaks to talk to these VCs).
You will get to find out the followings:
- What are the "must haves" in your pitch?
- What makes an investor tick?
- How to turn your pitch into action?
- How to transform a pitch to a winning pitch?

PITCHING:
This is a 2-round session
- Round One: 8 companies will be selected to pitch. Each will get to present a 2-minute pitch to our panel investors, and get first cut of feedback from the panel.
- Round Two: Our panel judges will select three best companies from Round One, and provide advice on how to improve their presentations. The three companies will have the opportunities to present a 4-minute pitch on Round Two.
DEMO:
- 15 of the coolest and most promising startups in social media and mobile space will be showing their products.

SPEAKERS:
Jonathan Barker | Venture Partner | Thomvest Ventures

Jonathan's diverse background includes managing the China subsidiaries of two Fortune 500 companies: Commercial Metals Company and EchoStar Communications Corporation. He also co-founded a Silicon Valley-based video search technology company, MeeVee, as well as developing strategic marketing and distribution plans, structuring and negotiating financial and commercial transactions, and carrying out due diligence for more than two dozen multinational companies and investment banks.
Jonathan holds a Master's degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard University and a Bachelor's degree in Chinese from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Amit Garg | Senior Associate | Norwest Venture Partners

Amit focuses on early to late stage venture investments across a wide range of sectors at NVP, with an emphasis on consumer Internet.
Prior to joining NVP, Amit spent four years at Google, where he was an associate product manager and a business analyst. As a product manager, he contributed to the development of Google Images, helped launch Google's Brazil offices and internationalized several products. In his role as a business analyst, Amit supplied the business and sales teams with critical analytics to make informed business and sales decisions.
Amit holds an MBA from Harvard Business School as well as a Master of Science degree in biomedical informatics and a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science (major) and biology (minor) from Stanford University
Richard Ling | General Partner | Rembrandt Venture Partners

Richard Ling brings serial entrepreneurship experience and passion for technology to the Rembrandt team.
Concurrently with devoting his time to founding Rembrandt Venture Partners, Richard was the acting, founding CEO and Chairman of MetaLINCs, an email search and analytics company acquired by Seagate in 2007. Prior to Rembrandt, Richard was the co-founder, President and CEO of AlterEgo Networks, a wireless infrastructure company, acquired by Macromedia in 2002.
Before AlterEgo, Richard led the eCommerce product organization at Inktomi, where he was responsible for overseeing all areas of the group's engineering and operations, including site and network operations and product development. Richard was a co-founder, VP of Products and Engineering and acting CTO at Impulse Buy Networks Inc., leading the development, operations and product management groups. Impulse Buy Networks was acquired by Inktomi in 1998.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Science, Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley (robotics and control/learning systems focus).
Chris Yeh | Partner | Wasabi Ventures

Chris was on the founding team of pioneering Internet companies such as United Online Services and Merrill Lynch's Intelligent Technologies Group. He has founded, advised, or invested in dozens of startups, including Ustream and PBworks.
He was the first investor in and interim CEO of Ustream, which provides an open and distributable platform for live interactive online video. He also helped start numerous other companies, including Symphoniq Corporation, TargetFirst, and Juno Online Services and FarSight Financial Services.
Chris is a much-quoted thought leader in the field of marketing and entrepreneurship; his research and publications have been incorporated into the Harvard Business School curriculum, while his projects have received press coverage in Fortune, the Financial Times, and the New York Times. He writes a popular blog on entrepreneurship and venture capital, Adventures in Capitalism and contributes to blogs such as TechCrunch and VentureBeat.
Chris holds two degrees from Stanford University, and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar (High Distinction).
